I was given a Flip Ultra camcorder by Adobe to video and post my thoughts on their products, services and events. I used it in Milan at Max alot actually. It is awesome. So simple to use. One button for Record and Stop. One button for Delete and one button for Play. How simple is that? It has a built in, flick-out USB connector so you can copy your video files directly to your hard drive and takes disposable batteries (which I really like). It’s resolution is only 640 x 480, but it’s good quality and about the size of your mobile phone, so it’s incredibly easy to carry and use. I’ve used it for loads of YouTube postings and loads of on-the-run video requirements. It is my ’surprise great gadget’ of 2008 (and I got my iPhone this year, so that should tell you something).
But, all that aside. The people who make the Flip camcorder have a good range of products already and they’ve just announced an HD version and though it’s 720 and not 1080, if you’ve seen or used one of these, you’ll realise how amazing it is to get an HD camcorder in to a package this small, light and easy to use. You can also add your own custom artwork or photos to the case of the camcorder at no extra cost, and their online purchase system makes this really straight forward. Check it out. I’ve already ordered mine
