The Logic Bureau just posted on this user group. It’s not a new user group and though it has more than 350 members it is still relatively under the radar. I know I didn’t know about this group until a couple of months ago. They are an excellent group for beginners and intermediates, with incredible on site facilities like fully equipped developer/designer labs and lecture rooms available for the members, enabling them to not only hear great speakers but also to get their hands dirty in a work lab environment. There’s lots more but I won’t repeat what’s on the Logic Bureau site. Have a read and get along.

I can imagine nothing better than going to work in a bikini, uh, I mean in my speedos, oh God no, that’s probably a worse image. Well you know what I mean, dressed for the beach, as most of us Flash platform professionals optimistically do every day (at least here in London). So is there Flash in Miami? Well there seems to be a difference of opinion. Read the rest of this entry »

Ok, I’m going to Milan. It took a bit of persuasion as I really wanted to go to Max in San Fran, but I discovered that there are some awesome speakers at Milan who won’t be in San Fran and after all, that’s one of the main reasons we go to these things. If you’re able to get out there then I suggest you do. Flights are cheaper now and the hotels are very reasonable and as usual there’ll be the usual partying and super networking going on in the evenings. Which of course is NOT one of the reason I’m going ;)
“Adobe MAX is a large annual event held by Adobe in North America, Europe and Japan. The purpose of the event to provide unique opportunities for those in the computer design and development industries to connect and learn the latest cutting-edge technologies that Adobe releases.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_MAX)

This year’s European event is taking place December 1st – 3rd in Milan, Italy. If you’re interested in Adobe’s technology roadmap, new product announcements or want to learn more about the Flash Platform and Flex through hands-on labs and over 50 Flex developer sessions then MAX Europe is for you. Use the session browser to explore all the sessions at MAX: http://max.adobe.com/eu/sessions/browser/

If you are one of my PokerCoder members, I will be sending you a discount code that Adobe have given me specifically for you :D

All right you ‘orrible lot. Stand to attention when I’m shouting at you! On my command, register for the London Flex Camp later this month. wait for it…wait for it. Two, three, click here. (Sorry, to do this justice you really need to know who Sargent Major Windsor Davies is.)
Flex Camp London 08 is a FREE, community-run event for everyone interested in Adobe Flex! Whether you’re just getting started with Flex or you’re an expert, Flex Camp aims to provide something for you.
Adobe have lined up some of the most experienced Flex developers in the UK who will share their knowledge on everything from creating your first application, connecting to data, creating components and development best practices through to selecting an application framework for larger projects.

Roll up, roll up, Rob Bateman of Away3D and infinite Turtle fame, who is also a speaker at Flash Forward in San Francisco this year, has 2 tickets that he’s giving away at HALF PRICE. This is a rare deal.

It’s short notice I know, as FF is on the 20th-22nd August, but this is a premier event and the speakers are truely outstanding. Most intriguing for me is that THE Tinic Uro will be speaking. So if Tinic is speaking then I’m absolutely sure that new and upcoming features in the Flash player will be revealed in great technical detail. It’ll be a chance to tell the guy that physically builds the Flash player what features you want to see or ask about present features in the greatest of technical details. I would love to have a chance to talk with this guy, so I’m extra bummed that I can’t go.

There are 2 tickets available, so if you’d like one or both then email Rob directly at rob@infiniteturtles.co.uk, but I’d do it quick as these puppies will go quick.
